Fondue Meatballs with Curry Sauce
Meatballs with Curry Sauce
Ingredients: 1/4 cup salad oil
1 medium-sized onion, sliced
1 teaspoon curry powder
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 clove garlic, minced or mashed
1 stick whole cinnamon
6 whole cloves
Vi teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 cup unflavored yogurt
Cooked rice
Directions:
In a chafing dish, heat salad oil; add onion, curry, coriander, garlic, cinnamon, cloves, and cumin. Stir until onions are limp and translucent. Slowly blend milk into cornstarch until smooth; then stir into onion mixture with yogurt. Heat, stirring, until mixture boils and thickens. Discard the cloves, cover, and chill (if made ahead).
To serve, prepare rice for 4 servings according to package directions. Bake meatballs as directed. Reheat sauce in chafing dish, add meatballs, and heat thoroughly, stirring often. Arrange the rice on a heated serving platter or place in a bowl. Bring to the table with the meatballs and sauce, placing the chafing dish over low flame or over a water pan to keep warm. Makes 4 servings.
