Ingredients: 2 cups sifted cake flour
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup butter
2/4 almonds, split in half
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Directions: Sift flour and salt twice. Cream butter, gradually add sugar, beating well. Add flavoring. Gradually stir in flour, mixing well. Chill and roll into balls the size of a walnut. Flatten, and place on a greased baking sheet. Press half an almond on top of each cookie. Bake in a slow oven (300°F.) until browned, 18 to 20 minutes. Yield: about 48 cookies.
